Why I do not like Russell Westbrook

I was having a coversation with somebody and I stated my clear distaste in Russell Westbrook.  He pointed out that Westbrook averages only three points less than Rose and more assissts and rebounds than Rose.  But basketball is not all about the "most" important statistics.  He has a worse shooting percentage than Derrick Rose, he commits a lot of turnovers, even though some of them are good ideas.  He gets to the basket very often but he doesn't finish very well around the basket because he is often out of control.  He also needs to pass the ball more to Kevin Durant, the leading scorer in the league.
Kevin Durant needs to recieve the ball way more.  Westbrook is such a ballhog, it is different for Rose, because Rose is supposed to be the star of the team.  Durant, some people might argue, is the best player in the league.  I wouldn't even put Westbrook in the top 20.  I'm sure Scott Brooks has told him this but it is Westbrook's nature.  Westbrook played off the ball in college because of Darren Collison, you can see why.  If Westbrook ever touched the ball, Collison, the star on that team, never would have goten the ball.
Russell Westbrook, is a good player with a lot of promise, but for him to fulfill that, he needs to become a better passer.  Westbrook, while on the Thunder, will never be the star, and if he doesn't understand that, then the Oklahoma City organization has to make some changes.
The Thunder are a good, young team with a couple of young stars and a great post defender.  Sefolosha is a good defender and a decent scorer.  But the Thunder need a third scorer that will not take a ton of shots.  Do this, and they could be an elite team.

The NBA Playoffs

I know you guys have been watching the playoffs.  So have I.  They have been so exciting.  There are so many things that I have learned from watching the playoffs.

  1. Chris Paul is the only true point guard left in the NBA.  Rondo passes too much, Steve Nash also passes too much, and Rose is too often out of control.
  2. The Magic are very overrated.  One of the "elite" teams in the league shouldn't be losing 3-1 in a series.
  3. The refs favor the better teams.  In the Celtics vs. Knicks series, the Knicks got screwed. In Game 1 there was under a minute left and the Knicks had the ball up by one point, and Toney Douglas passed the ball to Melo.  Oh wait, an off ball foul on Melo.  Then the Celtics got the ball, Ray Allen hits a three, because KG tripped Toney Douglas.
  4. PAUL PIERCE GETS EVERY CALL!*
  5. The Heat are the best team in the league, and right now, I would say they would most likely play the Thunder in the NBA Finals if both teams keep playing like that.
*First of all, I'm a Knick fan, but come on admit it, he gets every freaking call to go his way.  Melo's foul, Pierce was defending him.
The Thunder are the best team in the Western Conference.  Kevin Durant is the best scorer in the league and Kendrick Perkin's defense allows them to shut down anybody on the inside.  Russell Westbrook may take too many shots as a point guard for a team with a stud player (KD).  Also, the Thunder's opponents will have a tough time beating them in that electric arena where it is rocking.  And last but not least, if the Grizzlies and the Thunder win, the Thunder will play the Grizzlies in the second round.

Kevin Durant for MVP

Hey everyone,
My first topic I will cover is who the best player in the NBA is.  A lot of you will say LeBron, some of you will say Dwyane Wade, and I believe some of you will say D-Rose.  But  Kevin Durant should be in the running for MVP.  Kevin Durant has led the league in scoring the last two years, yes, even when LeBron was a one man team on the Cavs.  Now here is my list of top 10 players.

  1. LeBron James, he is the only person in the same league as MJ.
  2. Kevin Durant, even with a point guard who takes a lot of shots, he still leads the league in scoring.
  3. Dwyane Wade, electric player who is overlooked by LeBron.
  4. Dwight Howard, best big man in the league, he is a definite Hall of Famer.
  5. Chris Paul, so overlooked by Derrick Rose this year, but CP3 is a definite Hall of Famer.
  6. Kobe Bryant, right now # 6, earlier he might be ahead of LeBron.
  7. Derrick Rose, electric point guard, but needs to take better control of his body.
  8. Dirk, he has everything going for him, great player.
  9. Rajon Rondo, great vision, great player, a jump shot would move him up a few spots.
  10. Chris Bosh, great jump shot, finishes!

Kevin Durant is not looked at as an elite player because of Russell Westbrook, who takes way too many shots.  He should give the ball to KD, who is a top 3 player in the league.  Durant should be voted for MVP.
